The Triangle Club of Palmetto Bay, Inc., a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, began on New Year’s Day, 2005, for the specific purpose of following Tradition 6 in the operation of the Levity Room, where AA and other twelve-step groups hold large recovery meetings. The Club also began with the Tolerance Room where smaller or one-on-one recovery meetings are facilitated; and a lounge area to accommodate the children of those who attend meetings under their supervision.
The long form of tradition six states, among other things, that “problems of money, property, and prestige may easily divert us from our primary spiritual aim. We think, therefore, that any considerable property of genuine use to AA should be separately incorporated and managed, thus dividing the material from the spiritual.”
The Triangle Club protects the spiritual aim of AA groups and AA, as such, from going into business, or misusing the AA name, by managing the property and its finances, in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
The Palmetto Bay group of AA began AA meetings on January 1, 2005. Other AA groups from time to time have used the Levity room to hold meetings when they were without a facility.
Later, the Enlightenment group of Narcotics Anonymous and the Burning Desire group of Marijuana Anonymous began meetings in The levity Room. Gamblers Anonymous and Nicotine Anonymous have also used the facilities.
Meetings are held daily by the groups.
The Levity Room has always been known from the beginning for its Tiffany swag lamps and blinking holiday lights, which Ruthie __ coined the name “Levity lights” in December, 2005.
In about 2009, Al C. donated a substantial amount of old literature, which began the clubs literature collection.
The Triangle Club is managed by a Board of Directors which oversees the material aspects of conducting 12 step recovery meetings, while each group has its own trusted servants which manages the spiritual aspects of conducting their recovery meetings.
The Triangle Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to freedom from addiction of many kinds, through the use of various 12 step programs. We serve the broader South Dade community by providing a safe and empowering environment where abstinence from addiction can thrive
